I am interested in how natural-resource-dominant economies operate, particularly when the government owns the resources. This is the case in almost all nations of the world. The interactions of the private and public sectors in such economies also is not researched sufficiently. I am also very interested in how organizations use information, given that such information may involve tacit features that cannot be communicated completely, regardless of information bandwidth – the effects on centralization of decision-making and transparency are clear. This latter is one way of furthering the New Institutional work of Douglass North, a former colleague and co-author. Finally, continuing the public choice research program of using analytic tools to understand organizations, both public and private, still intrigues me.
