Greetings from the Provost

Welcome to the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Claremont Graduate University.  Our office provides academic and administrative leadership for all of CGU, including all matters having to do with academic programs, faculty, curriculum, student achievement, sponsored programs, and research.  We are the keepers of the Flame that energizes and enlightens all of CGU.

The academic mission of CGU is to create new knowledge and to prepare leaders who will go out into the world with the purpose and skills to make it a better place.  We do this through the eight schools that form our academic organization in the fields of arts and humanities, economics, politics and public policy, education, botany, information science, management, religion, mathematics, psychology, and organizational behavior.  We work in collaboration with our colleagues at the other Claremont Colleges---Pomona, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, and Keck Graduate Institute---to provide the resources of a medium sized university with the intimacy and support of a small institution.  Our primary concern is always for the academic excellence of our work and our students.

We at CGU have been given many superb resources and opportunities.  As a result, our responsibility to our communities, both local and international, is great.  We hope that you will join us in our exciting work and become part of our community of scholars.
