Message From the Dean
In the Arts our aim is to foster the creation, production and performance of art; in the humanities our aim is to promote the study of human history, thought, and culture as means to understanding the problems of today. We have a strong historical tradition at Claremont that we strive to maintain while keeping a solid grasp on the problems of today. Our classes are small, and we are very student-centered. Your course of study can be highly customized to meet your interests and you will work closely with our distinguished faculty and students. We welcome diversity and difference of opinion so we hope that you will come to meet us and challenge us. If you come to campus, please stop by my office at 121 East Tenth Street. The Arts and Humanities comprise the departments of Art, Music, English, Philosophy, History, and Cultural Studies.
