Purpose and Objective of this Course:


To provide an introduction to designing Macromedia Flash web pages and an introduction to fundamental web design practices to enhance the student's ability to display research on the Web in a cohesive and coherent manner.

Required Reading:

Macromedia Flash MX: A Beginner's Guide by Brian Underhahl

Required Materials:

2 PC formatted 100 MB zip disks

Suggested Reading and Materials:

Designing the User Interface: Strategies for Effective Human-Computer Interaction by Ben Schneiderman

A set of headphones in a good idea but not required. The class will cover adding sound to your websites.

Grading:

Attendance and participation 10%
Individual Assignments 10%
Group Assignments and Presentation 30%
Final Project 50%

Note: All students are required to attend every class and will need to be on time. If for some reason you will not be able to attend class please call me and notify the McNair Scholars Program office. In addition, all students are expected to do their own work on the final project and individual assignments and to contribute to the group assignments in a fair manner. Plagarism will not be tolerated.
