Alternative/Private Student Loans
Students who have remaining eligibility within their cost of attendance and who meet the individual lenders' requirements, may be eligible to borrow through an alternative loan program or private student signature loan.  These loans are credit based and are for educational related expenses.

International students may qualify for these types of loans; however, they must have a credit-worthy US citizen or perminent resident coborrower in order to be considered. Private Loans

The Emergency Loan:
The Emergency loan is an institutional loan available to students for verifiable, short-term emergencies only.  Loans may be issued for a maximum of up to $1000 per semester, with a maximum repayment period of 90 days.  Only one loan may be granted each semester. Students need to be current on their tuition account and may not have an outstanding prior emergency loan to be eligible.  All loans are granted at the discretion of the Director of Student Financing.

Veterans' Adminstration:
CGU is an approved institution for in-service, off-duty educational benefits provided by the Veterans Administration.  First payments take approximately 90 days to arrive.  It is recommended that students eligible for these benefits contact the Office of Student Financing at least 3 months prior to the first day of the semester attended to ensure that checks are available.

Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA):
Students who are certified by a tribal agency to be at least one-eighth American Indian may be eligible for a grant from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and/or their tribal agency.  Information and applications are available directly from the BIA and specific tribal agency.  The Office of Student Financing is happy to assist you with your application.  The final decision on awards rests with the BIA/tribal agency that serves you.

Outside Scholarships:
Each year, private outside foundations and agencies offer scholarships that are announced by the Office of Student Financing and/or through the academic departments.  Many of these scholarships and outside recources are distributed via email through the Office of Student Financing.
