The Definitive Drucker

The Definitive Drucker… Final Advice from Father of Modern Management…Vital for Leaders of Today and Tomorrow

The Definitive Drucker by Elizabeth Edersheim, former senior consultant and partner for McKinsey & Co., evolved as the result of a personal request by Peter Drucker, himself, who commissioned Edersheim to write about his life’s work.  Considered to be “the final advice” from the Father of Modern Management, The Definitive Drucker is not only an account of  Drucker’s management foresight and wisdom on impending business risks and opportunities, but offers insight on current business practices, economic changes and trends that he had accurately forecasted decades ago.

Drucker had the keen ability to challenge business, corporate and political leaders to address penetrating questions that ultimately enhanced the growth and change of modern business.  He left an influential and indelible mark on leaders who had the good fortune to tap into his management concepts and disciplines. Those disciplines focus on creating ethical leaders who are trained to be both competent and compassionate, data-driven and people-oriented with the desire to do good at the same time they do well.

Evidence of his profound effect on leaders throughout the 20th century is captured in interviews conducted by Edersheim with Jim Collins, Jack Welch, Michael Hammer and A.G. Lafley, during her development of The Definitive Drucker.  By addressing five main themes that Drucker believed would “create tomorrow”—1) Connecting with customers;  2) Innovating and abandoning;  3) Developing lasting collaborations; 4) Attracting and growing knowledge workers, and 5) Establishing disciplined decision making, The Definitive Drucker represents 39 books and seven decades of Drucker’s impact on leaders and is considered more relevant and vital to modern leaders and organizations than ever before.
