If you were a studio head, how would you handle a case like Mel Gibson’s?

Response by Ira A. Jackson, Dean of The Drucker School of Management:

I would be concerned because gains at the box office can be undone by uncivilized behavior like Mel Gibson’s. Here at the Drucker School, we train our manager’s to be both effective and ethical leaders, so I don’t see why the same shouldn’t be required of movie stars. If you have someone who is ethical, but is not a star, you won’t invest a lot in that person. But if you have a star who is not ethical, that person can jeopardize your entire business. Management is all about finding a balance between the two.
