Drucker Faculty Address Key Conference
Three CGU faculty members made presentations at the 60th Annual Academy of Management Conference in Atlanta in August.
Craig Pearce, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Joseph Maciariello of CGU’s Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management were invited for this year’s event, titled "Knowledge, Action and the Public Concern." Drucker School’s commitment to responsible and ethical management training that led to the prestigious honor. Pearce and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi gave a presentation about virtuous leadership.
 "There is a bit of a movement in this post-Enron era and other such scandals to think about virtue in business and in business education," Pearce said. "That’s always been a common theme with Drucker, and this issue is gaining more attention now than ever.
"There is no other institution that is even close to Drucker in this regard." Pearce, an expert on shared leadership, recently authored an article for Leadership Quarterly that addresses vertical and shared leadership as predictors of entrepreneurial growth rate.
Maciariello, who addressed the crowd with a presentation about Drucker, has  written books about Drucker and co-written books with the legendary business expert who stressed the human side of management.
All three were also just published in the Journal of Management Spirituality and Religion in a special issue on virtues in organizations.
