Course waivers imply that you have sufficient knowledge in a particular area. Where as transfer credit implies that actual credit has been approved decreasing the total number of units needed to graduate.
Courses can be waived if it has been determined that the course is redundant to your current degree program. You must submit all necessary documentation to prove that you have sufficient knowledge in this area to warrant a waiver. If you feel a course waiver is appropriate, you as the student must approach the individual instructor responsible for that particular course. Student and instructor will decide whether an exam is necessary to test your knowledge or whether other documentation warrants the waiver. Once this has been determined obtain a course waiver form from the Program Administrator. Obtain signature from instructor and return form to Program Administrator for processing. must sign off on the form.
It is your responsibility to discuss the course waiver options with the instructor. It is best to approach course waivers prior to the beginning of each course your attempting to waive. Typically, when a waiver is granted a substitutable course is approved simultaneously.
