Assistant Professor William Perez was selected as recipient of 2009 ASHE CEP Mildred García Junior Award for Exemplary Scholarship for his research on undocumented immigrants pursuing higher education. The purpose of the García Award for Exemplary Scholarship is to recognize one junior (nontenured) scholar and one senior (tenured) scholar for seminal, exemplary scholarship that focuses on research and issues specifically related to underrepresented populations of color.
Dr. Perez will receive the award at a ceremony on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the annual ASHE Conference in Vancouver, B.C.
