Scope and Purpose - The purpose of this interdisciplinary class is to expose PhD students to alternative ways of approaching problems in their discipline. We will explore the philosophical and ethical underpinnings of scientific inquiry, assess the virtues of case studies, qualitative research, experimental, inductive and formal approaches. To end the class we will provide a short overview of how to draft research proposals providing students with the basic skills needed to fund their own research.
