The NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams included Claremont Graduate University Professor William Perez in a broadcast segment on the DREAM Act on Dec. 8.
Perez, who teaches in CGU's School of Educational Studies, is an expert on the act. He is the author of We ARE Americans: Undocumented Students Pursuing The American Dream, which blends the inspirational stories of undocumented students with the critical policy implications of the continuing neglect of immigration reform.
The DREAM Act is proposed federal legislation that would create a path to citizenship for some undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. Those who graduate from high school and attend college or serve in the military could qualify.
The legislation was up for vote in Congress this week.
In addition to the NBC News appearance, Perez was cited recently in DREAM Act stories by the Los Angeles Times, Pasadena Star-News and Daily Sundial.
