Brattskar has a long history of public service, having previously served as Norway’s ambassador to Sri Lanka from 2004 to 2007, and later as special advisor for peacekeeping operations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo.
He has been director general and special envoy for climate change at Norway’s Ministry of the Environment since September 2011.
Brattskar was also the first director of Norway’s Climate and Forest Initiative, which aims to preserve the world’s remaining rainforests.
