Department of Economics

In addition to traditional M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, the Department of Economics offers, in cooperation with faculty from the Department of Politics and Policy and the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management, three special M.A. and Ph.D. tracks emphasizing business and financial economics, international economic policy, political economy and public policy. Interested students may also pursue a dual PhD in Economics/MBA degree program.

The traditional Ph.D. is usually the appropriate track for students intending to pursue careers in economic research and university teaching. One of the other tracks may be more appropriate for students intent on careers in business, government service, or teaching and research in interdisciplinary programs such as schools of international studies, management, and public policy. The Department of Economics has also developed a number of dual or interfield degree options, which allow a student to pursue an interdisciplinary curriculum in economics and other fields such as management, mathematics, philosophy, and politics and policy.

The Department of Economics is accepting applications. We admit to the Fall and Spring.  Our priority appication deadline for a fall admit is February 1 ;  for spring the deadline is November 1.  Please contact us soonest with your questions. Interested students may apply ONLINE at www.cgu.edu/apply.
