Drucker Day 2007 Set for 11/10 with Prominent Keynote Speakers and New Publications

Friday, November 09, 2007

University of Southern California Professor Warren Bennis’ book “Judgment: How Winning Leaders Make Great Calls” (Portfolio, November 2007) has been released just in time for Drucker Day 2007 on November 10. Professor Bennis will deliver a keynote address, “Four Factors for the Future,” for the event’s morning session.
“Judgment,” which was written with University of Michigan management professor Noel Tichy, examines the correlation between judgment and leadership success. According to Bennis, “judgment is the DNA, the fundamental essence of leadership.” For decades, Bennis has impacted the fields of leadership and management theory. The Wall Street Journal named him as one of the top ten speakers on management in 1993. Forbes Magazine referred to him as the “dean of leadership gurus” in 1996, and the Financial Times, in 2000, said he was “the professor who established leadership as a respectable academic field.”

As featured afternoon keynote speaker for Drucker Day 2007, Harvard Business School Arbuckle Professor Rosabeth M. Kanter will address issues from her latest book, “America the Principled: 6 Opportunities for becoming a Can-Do Nation Once Again.” In referring to topics which center on classic American values, she states, “I have an agenda to bring us back to our classic strengths and improve the national mood.” Kanter has been named to the lists of the “50 most powerful women in the world” (Times of London), and the “50 most influential business thinkers in the world” (Accenture and Thinkers 50 research). She specializes in strategy, innovation and leadership for change and has guided leaders of large and small organizations worldwide for more than 25 years.

Both Bennis and Kanter are celebrated thought-leaders whose contributions to the fields of leadership, management and organizational change mirror the doctrines and principles of the late Peter Drucker.

Drucker Day 2007 will begin with registration at 9:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Garrison Theater, Scripps College, 10th and Dartmouth. The day’s event will include mini-courses offered by CGU faculty, networking socials and presentation on the Drucker Institute. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase autographed copies of “Judgment” and “America the Principled.” Attendees who register for the full-day or for the Warren Bennis session will receive complimentary copies of Dr. Bill Cohen’s, “A Class with Drucker: The Lost Lessons of the Greatest Management Teacher.” Dr. Bill Cohen is a noted author and one of Peter Drucker’s early Ph.D. recipients.
