Executive Forum with Innovation Expert Abbie Griffin
Tuesday, January 29, 2008
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Albrecht Auditorium

Voices from the Field:  How Exceptional Electronic Innovators Innovate - Professor Griffin's research on innovation includes a series of qualitative interviews with 11 exceptional innovators in the electronics industry - an in-depth study of how they initiated, created and commercialized radical innovations in their firms. Throughout classic literature on innovation, psychology, and management, creativity is discussed in terms of "person," "product" or "process." This research examines highly creative innovations (products) and finds that it appears that both "person" and "process" need to be considered in attaining radical innovation.

Abbie Griffin holds the Royal L. Garff Presidential Chair in Marketing at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, where she teaches business-to-business marketing and core marketing classes for MBA students. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Navistar International, a $13 billion manufacturer of diesel engines and trucks, and from 1998 to 2003 was the editor of the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the leading academic journal in the areas of product and technology development.
