Over the past year, government cutbacks and rising demand have led to severe shortages at food banks in our area.
To help fill the shelves, the Drucker Institute and the Drucker School of Management have teamed up with BIG SUNDAY, the largest annual citywide community service organization in the country, to hold a campus food drive April 23 to May 2.
Bins with BIG SUNDAY signs will be placed at various locations around the Drucker School and the CGU campus. There is a particular need for donations of powdered milk, canned tuna fish, and jars of peanut butter and spaghetti sauce.
All food donations will be given to food banks and pantries in the area including SOVA and the LA Regional Foodbank.
To learn more about BIG SUNDAY or volunteer for BIG SUNDAY weekend (May 3rd and 4th), go to www.bigsunday.org.
Last year on Big Sunday about 50,000 people volunteered at 300 nonprofits, schools and other agencies. Drucker has partnered with What a Pair!, a non profit organization which hosts entertainers at evening benefits for breast cancer research.
This year, What a Pair! is having an estate sale from 10 to 2 pm, May 3, in Santa Monica to raise money for research. They still need volunteers. Please sign up by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
