David L. Cooperrider is the Fairmount Minerals Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. He will be coming to the Drucker School on August 8. And at 2:30 p.m. in Burkle 14, he will be giving a lecture on The Discovery and Design of “Positive Institutions” that Magnify and Refract Our Highest Human Strengths into the World.
During his talk Dr. Cooperrider will share the story of two powerful inspirations that came from his meeting with Peter Drucker in 2002 - and how these inspirations have connected and combined key domains in his work, specifically in the area of Appreciative Inquiry (“AI”) and the worldwide innovation study into Business as an Agent of World Benefit (B.A.W.B).
Through his studies and work in the field, David is now convinced that sustainability is the business opportunity of the 21st century. It is an innovation engine unlike anything we have ever seen in management-- and it’s a lens that will dominate the management agenda for the next generation of thirty or more years. Even more important, the outcomes will define the next episode in creative capitalism and, ultimately, will determine the well-being of our imperiled planet.
