“The Walmart Better Living Business Plan competition seeks to promote entrepreneurship in the area of sustainability. The Drucker School will host the first round of this school-wide competition on Monday, Jan 26th 2009. While commonly accepted business school competition rules and standards are acknowledged to be an important part of this event, Walmart seeks to emphasize sustainability as a significant portion of the judging criteria.
Better living will be defined as the actions that we take today that improve quality of life for us, our children, and future generations, including actions that :
Ø Preserve clean air, water and soil.
Ø Reduce waste.
Ø Improve energy efficiency or usage of renewable energy.
Ø Promote healthy living for people and communities and support biodiversity.
The winner of the School-wide competition will move on to participate in the Regional competition. Walmart Stores, Inc. will award funds in the amounts of $20,000 and $10,000 to the winner and first runner-up team, respectively on the day of the semifinals competition.”
