Sunday, March 7
Depart at 6:15 a.m.
Meet in the Burkle Parking Lot
Are you tired at looking at our white mountains and not going to enjoy the snow? Change that this weekend! Take a trip to Mountain High! It’s expected that there will be 3 – 6 inches of snowfall this weekend!
Mountain High is decently sized and divided into two sections: East and West. East has more parking and West has more runs and people. Both sections have all type of runs. There are free shuttles between both sections. More information about Mountain High: http://www.mthigh.com
Why so early? It takes about an hour to get to at Mountain High. If we get there after 8 a.m., then there might be no parking (and schlepping gear up the hill will be no fun!) We’ll decide on a lunch plan once we’re up there.
Basic directions: 210 E to 15 N to 138 E — then turn left at the 2. Mountain High is just past the town of Wrightwood. (East is the first part you will see.)
Cost: Lift tickets are $65. Gear rental at resort is as follows: Skis & Boots, $30; Snowboard and Boots, $35. (Gear rental in town might be cheaper.)
What to wear: A waterproof (at least highly water-resistant) jacket, gloves, and pants. Beanies (hats) are a good idea. Sunscreen and sunglasses are a must!
Getting there: Roads to Mountain High generally do not have ice or snow. We can decide on carpools when we meet on Sunday morning. Road condition information can be found here: http://www.mthigh.com/pages/roads.shtml
