Cultivating the Executive Mind: Is Mindfulness the Key to 21st Century Economic Survival?
A Webinar with Jeremy Hunter
Assistant Professor, The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management
Wednesday, September 28, 2011
12:00 - 1:00 PM
Peter Drucker, the founder of the discipline of modern management, asserted that making knowledge workers productive was the key to economic survival for the developed economies. Though knowledge workers use their minds to make a living, are they ever taught to use their minds more effectively? This webinar discusses the decade-old mindfulness program at the Drucker School of Management designed to teach managers to manage themselves.
About the presenter:
Jeremy Hunter, PhD has been affiliated with the Peter F. Drucker School of Management since 1999, where he teaches in the Executive Management and MBA programs and has been voted Professor of the Year by students in both courses. Dr. Hunter received his Ph.D. from University of Chicago, an M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Wittenberg University.
He created and teaches The Practice of Self-Management and The Executive Mind, a series of challenging and transformative executive education programs dedicated to Drucker’s assertion that “You cannot manage other people unless you manage yourself first.” They were among the first courses in North America to introduce mindfulness practice in a management context and incorporate state-of-the art findings in neuroscience, psychology, medicine and the arts.
His work is informed by the experience of living day-to-day for 17 years with a potentially terminal illness, and when faced with the need for life-saving surgery having more than a dozen former students come forward as organ donors. He has an active international consulting practice working with a diverse array of organizations including manufacturers, financial organizations, consumer products, defense contractors, hospitals, universities, cultural institutions, governments and non-profit entities. He is a contributor to Mindful.org, is on the web at www.JeremyHunter.net and can be followed on Twitter at www.twitter.com/JeremyHunter123.
