Human Resource Development & Evaluation

Beginning in Fall 2007, the School of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences will offer a Master of Arts in Psychology with a co-concentration in Human Resource Development and Evaluation.

Human Resource Development involves helping employees develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform effectively in the workplace.  Human Resource Development professionals are typically responsible for researching, designing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of learning interventions, facilitating the application of knowledge within organizations using people and computer-based technologies, and facilitating communication and collaboration among diverse groups of employees.

A career in this field can lead to positions in training and staff development, coaching, program evaluation, human resources, organizational research, consulting, and adult education. Graduates are particularly well positioned for working in a variety of settings, including business, healthcare, nonprofit, education, and government organizations. The degree also prepares individuals for pursuing a Ph.D. who may be seeking an academic career.  In addition to building a strong foundation in Human Resource Development, graduates also have expertise in research and evaluation theories, models, and methods. This dual focus adds a unique value to the graduate’s portfolio of educational and professional experiences.
