Kashif Hasnie, AbD,
Harvard University

Visiting Fellow, Center for Asia Pacific Policy
RAND Corporation, Washington D.C.


Kashif Hasnie specializes in South & Central Asian political, military and environmental affairs.  He has taught at Harvard, Columbia, Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Much of his research has been concerned with traditional and non-traditional threats to international security, with a focus on South and Central Asia. His current interest is in environmental security threats and climate change. He is currently working on a book manuscript entitled “Nuke Waters: Hydro Politics of South Asia,” which discusses primarily the shared waters between India and Pakistan.  Kashif is a regular commentator on the media for issues pertaining to South and Central Asia. Some of his latest appearances include Al Hurra, BBC, Channel-5 (Pakistan), Defense News, Geo (Pakistan), Naftemporiki (Greece), and Voice of America.
