Master of Arts Degree Programs

The MA degree programs are offered as steps either toward immediate career goals or toward a Ph.D. degree. Each MA has its own focus and curriculum requirements.

Ph.D. Degree Programs

The rigorous training and applied nature of the department’s core offerings and doctoral fields provide the analytical expertise and practical experience for both domestic and international positions. Students fulfill a standard set of core requirements and qualify in one major doctoral field.

  ▪ Ph.D. in Economics
  ▪ Ph.D. in Political Science
  ▪ Ph.D. in Interfield Economics-Political Science
  ▪ Ph.D. in Economics or Political Science/MBA


BA/MA 4+1 Program

As you approach your final year of undergraduate study, we would like to take this opportunity to describe the benefits of the ACCELERATED B.A./M.A. DEGREE PROGRAM offered through Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and The School of Politics and Economics (SPE). This exciting program offers you the chance to earn graduate credit while completing the final year of your Bachelor’s degree. The benefits to you include savings in time and money of up to one full semester over traditional consecutive enrollment degree options.
