Professor Tom Horan is researching ways in which technology can be used to save lives.

Tom Horan of Claremont’s School of Information Systems and Technology has received many grants to evaluate medical communities all over the U.S. Currently, he is working with San Mateo County’s Emergency Services Department and with the prestigious Mayo Clinic to look at ways in which technology can be used to save lives.

His background includes electronic health database management of personal health records and wireless and mobile technology for use in the field. Most of the policy and technology recommendations would benefit the poor, disabled and elderly, the three most vulnerable members of our society.

In addition, Tom says electronic health database records will be a necessity for a national emergency such as a natural disaster or attack.
