Comparative Politics

POSITION FILLED

The School of Politics and Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position in Comparative Politics at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and Policy beginning Fall 2008.  

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have their Ph.D. degree at the start of employment.  We are interested in candidates with strong regional and thematic competence.  Sound knowledge of both field research methods and quantitative tools are important.  Candidates should have an active research agenda, readiness to mentor graduate students, a desire to engage in cross disciplinary teaching and research, willingness to engage in service to the institution and community, and ability to work with a diverse group of students.

The School of Politics and Economics offers graduate-level only degrees, both M.A. and Ph.D., and is associated with five undergraduate institutions of the Claremont Colleges. Exchange teaching with faculty members of those institutions may be possible. Transdisciplinary approaches are encouraged.

International Politics/International Political Economy 

POSITION FILLED

The School of Politics and Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position in International Political Economy at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and Policy beginning Fall 2008.  

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have their Ph.D. degree at the start of employment. We are interested in candidates with expertise in International Political Economy that combine training in economics and politics.  The School of Politics and Economics effectively integrates both fields and students are expected to take classes, and undertake joint research with faculty members in both fields. Applicants may approach the field from a micro or macro perspective, but should have a strong methods training, an active research agenda and the ability to teach.  The successful candidate should be ready to mentor graduate students, desire to engage in cross disciplinary teaching and research, be willing to engage in service to the institution and community, and be able to work with a talented but diverse group of students.

Public Policy

POSITION FILLED

The School of Politics and Economics, Claremont Graduate University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Public Policy at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and Policy beginning Fall 2008.  

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have their Ph.D. degree at the start of employment.  We are especially interested in candidates whose research has a state or local government focus.  Ability to teach courses on federalism, bureaucratic politics, and/or quantitative methodology is desirable.   Areas of substantive policy interests are open.  Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.  Evidence of an active research agenda, a cross-disciplinary perspective in teaching or research, readiness to mentor graduate students, and ability to work with a diverse group of students are important characteristics of a candidate.
