Electronic Disability Records:

How to link the needs of people with disabilities

to the national health initiatives?

The goal of the Kay-Cornell Policy Forum on Electronic Disability Records is to examine prospects of Electronic Disability Records (EDR) as part of the national health initiatives. The discussions and short presentations will address what EDR means for disability policy, including but not limited disability determination, service coordination and personal health management, and how it fits in the Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Personal Health Records (PHR) developments going on under the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) initiative. Stakeholders will contribute input and perspective on the value and feasibility of a dynamic electronic disability record (EDR).

Objectives:

  • Review of health and disability policy trends and technological developments
  • Presentation and discussion of Electronic Disability Records Use Cases
  • Research and testing needs and opportunities

The forum is jointly sponsored by The Kay Center for E-Health Research at Claremont Graduate University and Institute for Policy Research at Cornell University. Participants will include 15-20 representatives from:

  • Academia
  • Government (SSA, VA)
  • Associations and Non-Profit Organizations
  • Researchers
