WSR Salons feature invited speakers and presenters, collecting students, professors, and community members, and offering the social and intellectual enjoyment of a shared meal with friends and colleagues. In addition to lunch or dinner, WSR salons provide presentation and discussion with invited speakers, stirring the interchange of ideas. WSR salons can offer fertile ground for collaboration, as well as informal conversation and resource-sharing.
Over the years, WSR has welcomed numerous luminaries and ground-breakers to lecture and teach, including: Maria Pilar Aquino, Eleanor Ferris Beach, Karen McCarthy Brown, Virginia Burrus, Carol Christ, Elizabeth Clark, Mary Daly, Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, Naomi Goldenberg, Rosalva Aida Hernandez Castillo, Teresia Hinga, Ursula King, Amina Mama, Sylvia Marcos, Patricia Smith Melton, Margaret Miles, Margo Okazawa-Rey, Kathryn Poetig, Minnie Bruce Pratt, Rosemary Radford Ruether, H.E. Sallama Shaker, and numerous other leading scholars, activists, and scholar-activists focusing on women’s studies in religion in their respective places.
Periodically, WSR hosts other celebratory events, including an annual Champagne Brunch.
