Dr. Coleman develops constructive theology in conversation with Whiteheadian process metaphysics, black and womanist theologies, Christian traditions and narrative.  Other research interests include African American religions, with particular focus on African traditional religions.  Dr. Coleman’s current work is with mental health and theology. She actively speaks out against sexual and domestic violence in churches and university communities around the country.  She is author of The Dinah Project: A Handbook for Congregational Response to Address Sexual Violence and Making a Way out of No Way: a Womanist Theology.  Dr. Coleman is also an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.
