Reference Letters

Three reference letters are required of each applicant. Applicants should use the CGU Reference Form (also included in the paper application packet).

ALL APPLICANTS
  • References need to be from individuals acquainted with the applicant's academic ability. It is strongly suggested that applicants, especially for Ph.D. programs, seek references from faculty or others who themselves hold the Ph.D. degree.
  • References from employers may be desirable or required in some professionally related programs.*
  • Applicants are encouraged to provide specific information to their reference writers, which will aid in strengthening the reference. For information regarding the University's policy on the confidentiality of references, see "Student Files: Privacy and Access" within our Student Policies section.

*TEACHER EDUCATION APPLICANTS
