Reference Letters

Three reference letters are required of each applicant.

Applicants should  use the CGU Reference Form (179k) (also included in the paper application packet).

References, like official transcripts, should be sent to the CGU Admissions Office in sealed envelopes with the application form (except online applications) and other application materials.

For most programs these references need to be from individuals acquainted with the applicant's academic ability.

References from employers may be desirable or required in some professionally related programs*.

Applicants are encouraged to provide specific information to their reference writers, which will aid in strengthening the reference. For information regarding the University's policy on the confidentiality of references, see the "Policies" section of the Catalog.

*Listed below are the Academic Departments at CGU that have specific instructions for References:

Teacher Education Applicants – references addressing work experience (whether paid or unpaid), with children and/or youth are also desirable.

Management (MBA) and Executive Management Applicants - degree applicants- professional references are equally desirable.
