Biography
Carol Bliss received her Ph.D. in Education from Claremont Graduate University with an emphasis in cultural communication. She received a master’s from the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management with an emphasis in leadership, a postgraduate Fellowship from the Holmes Institute of Consciousness Studies, and a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Northridge.
Dr. Bliss is co-producer of Mosuo Song Journey, a documentary film about cultural changes in village life among indigenous people in southwestern China. She has taught in both China and Thailand and brings an innovative style of teaching to the classroom. She teaches at Cal Poly, University of La Verne, and the University of Transformational Leadership Studies. Her professional experience includes writing and research for entertainment companies such as Disney, Sony, and Universal.
Carol has taught culturally diverse students in nonprofit educational training programs in South Los Angeles and has developed collaborative art projects, creativity seminars, and writing programs for community-based organizations. She has taught, advised, and mentored second chance and nontraditional learners and currently works with the Prison Library Project and Uncommon Good. She has developed curriculum for nontraditional learning communities and has developed educational programs for people living with HIV and AIDS, family members, and individuals recovering from traumatic life events.
In Spring 2006, Dr. Bliss delivered the keynote address, “Teaching with Impact,” for Preparing Future Faculty’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference at CGU. She was also selected as an artist/participant in Faces of the Fallen at Pitzer College and in Envisioning the Future, a collaborative Project with Cal State Polytechnic University, Pomona and artist Judy Chicago.
