Founded in 1978, BI Incorporated pioneered the electronic supervision of offenders released to the community. Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, it employs more than 600 people in 40+ locations throughout the United States. Working closely with community corrections agencies to solve complex criminal justice problems, BI has made significant technological advancements and continuous improvements that have resulted in the industry's most advanced intensive community supervision solutions available today.  As such, it is the nation’s leader in providing state-of-the-art monitoring technology, treatment programs, day reporting and reentry services for offenders released to community supervision.  The Company provides 24/7 call center services from a national monitoring center in Anderson, IN.  It works closely with local, state, and federal public corrections officials to reduce recidivism, support public safety, and strengthen the communities we serve.

BI also supports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by managing an Intensive Supervision and Appearance Program (ISAP) for undocumented aliens.  DHS introduced ISAP in June, 2004 and offices are currently located in nine U.S. states.  ISAP provides supervision, structure and assistance to a diverse population of participants released to the community as they move through our country’s immigration courts.

Why did you choose to attend Drucker?
I had become a follower of Peter Drucker for many years by reading his books and attending lectures. My father actually introduced me to Peter’s works by inviting me to several of his lectures. I had attended CMC as an undergraduate and loved the atmosphere at the Claremont Colleges. The curriculum at the Drucker school was exactly what I was looking for in a graduate program, one of a liberal arts foundation with a focus on business.

How has the Drucker program helped you in your career progression?
The Drucker School program supported my previous liberal arts education and enhanced my professional business experience. It provided me access to a wealth of fellow students with whom I could exchange “real” business problems and solutions. I applied what I learned from my peers and in the classroom to what I was doing in my professional life. As a result, shortly after my graduation I was able to move my career along through a couple of different companies/industries. This ultimately enabled me to be promoted to Vice President of a very large company, with whom I had then been employed for several years.

What are the benefits of the Drucker alumni network?
The Drucker alumni network enables me to continue my interaction with a peer group that has a similar foundation of education but a wide variety of professional experiences. It also provides me the opportunity to give back to former students and current students by being on the Board of the Alumni Association and participating in the Mentor program.

What does the Drucker School represent to you?
The Drucker school represents to me the embodiment of what our schools, businesses and society should be. It is grounded in a set of principles and values that apply to all that we do. The more balanced and well rounded we are in our personal and professional lives, the better we all will be. This is not only what the Drucker School teaches, but how it functions.
