The Master of Arts in Economics (MAE) at Claremont Graduate University offers a two-year course of study that provides the analytical skills and real-world understanding necessary for success in our globally competitive markets.
MAE graduates find positions in business, government, and the nonprofit sectors of the economy, all requiring skills in economic analysis far beyond those developed at the undergraduate level. The MAE also compares favorably in analytic rigor to the typical master's degrees in business administration, public administration and public policy -- a fact not lost on employers.
The MAE is a 12-course program taken over four semesters when pursued full-time. Core courses in the program provide students with the basic concepts and analytical tools of economic analysis. The remaining courses are chosen in constitution with the student's advisor to create a set of skills that will be useful in the student's desired career path. Course offerings in related disciplines and in the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management may supplement those of the Economics department.
In addition to our general MAE, we offer students the opportunity to specialize in a particular area if they desire:
Emphasis in Business and Financial Economics
Emphasis in International Economics Policy and Development
Emphasis in Political Economy and Public Policy
