Gender, Leadership & Culture in Southern Africa: Analysis & Activism

This transdisciplinary course will focus on women’s issues in southern Africa in health (specifically HIV Aids ) and violence against women as well as issues in education and leadership and in the cultural matrix of gender, religion and sexuality. Students will have sessions with Gender Studies faculty, conversations with activists, government leaders and visits to NGOs. During the trip we will also visit South Africa--the Apartheid Museum, Soweto and we will take a safari in the Okavanga Delta in Botswana.
