About the Project
It is estimated that 15-20% of all cancer deaths in the United States can be attributed to overweight and obesity. Both diet and physical activity exhibit a strong relationship with the development of obesity and evidence suggests that obesity and its primary etiologic behaviors, diet and physical activity, track from childhood to adulthood. The Opt for Health II project is an innovative research study that will test a behavioral intervention designed to promote healthy eating and physical activity through in-person coaching sessions, motivational interviewing telephone calls, and tailored newsletters.
