ISS featured in American Academy of Religion's Spotlight on Teaching

Published on Friday, April 23, 2010

ISS's work is the focus of the current issue of Spotlight on Teaching, the American Academy of Religion's (AAR) quarterly publication exploring opportunities and challenges in teaching and learning about religions.

Director Vincent L. Wimbush guest edits a roundtable discussion with five other teacher-scholars on the topic Signifying (on) Scriptures: Text(ures) and Orientations. The central question is: How do we teach about the work that we (scholars, practitioners, groups) make scriptures do as (a) religious, social, and cultural phenomena; and (b) sacred texts mastered in scholarly and other discourses?

Participants:

Margaret Aymer, Interdenominational Theological Center
Grey Gundaker, College of William and Mary
Tat-Siong Benny Liew, Pacific School of Religion
Yan Shoucheng, Nanyang Technological University
Nikki Singh, Colby College

Members of AAR can access the publication by clicking here (username and member ID required).

Those who are not members of AAR can contact ISS to receive a copy.
