The Drucker School of Management has demonstrated significant leadership in integrating social, environmental and ethical issues into its MBA program, according to the Aspen Institute’s 2009-2010 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools. The School has ranked 89th on a list of the Top 100 Business Schools.
While many MBA rankings exist, only one looks beyond reputation and test scores to measure something much more important: how well schools are preparing their students for the environmental, social and ethical complexities of modern-day business.
This year, 149 business schools from 24 countries participated in an 18-month effort to map the landscape of teaching and research on issues pertaining to business and society. Relevant data collected in the survey, as well as the entire “Global 100” list of business schools, is available here.

This can include preserving clean air, water, and soil; reducing waste; improving energy efficiency or developing renewable energy ideas; as well as promoting healthy living for people and communities.
The 2010 Challenge will begin with school-wide competitions held on the Drucker campus by January 29, 2010. Getty Leadership Institute Moves to CGU and the Drucker School

The Getty Foundation in Los Angeles, CA will give a three-year, $2.2 million grant to Claremont Graduate University (CGU) to support The Getty Leadership Institute, which will move from the Getty Center to the CGU campus in January 2010. The Institute will now be known as The Getty Leadership Institute at CGU, and will be a collaboration of the School of Arts and Humanities and the Peter Drucker Graduate School of Management.
“During its 25 year association with the Getty, the GLI has continually sought out new ideas and opportunities, and the move to CGU will allow the GLI to expand and thrive in the context of a very special and distinguished institution of higher education. We are delighted to work with our colleagues at CGU to ensure the continuing success of the Getty Leadership Institute,” said Deborah Marrow, director of the Getty Foundation.
Said CGU Interim President Joseph Hough, "As a collaboration of the School of Arts and Humanities and the Drucker School of Management, the Getty Leadership Institute will effectively blend the curricula of both schools by combining study in the arts and humanities with contemporary management skills. It's a very exciting prospect."
The GLI, created in 1979 to respond to the growing complexities faced by leaders of museums and other nonprofit institutions, is a leading source of continuing professional development for current and future museum leaders. Through its programs, including the Museum Leadership Institute (MLI), the GLI provides opportunities for museum professionals, board members, academics, philanthropists, and public officials to come together to question, learn, and plan.
The MLI continues to be the foremost professional development program for senior museum executives. Participants from around the world, chosen from a highly competitive pool of applicants, convene for an intensive three-week professional development program for museum decision-makers. More than 1,000 museum professionals from the United States and 20-plus countries have attended MLI and are currently responsible for setting the directions at a diverse collection of cultural organizations across the globe. Though the GLI will be housed at CGU, the MLI program will be held at the Getty Center in summer 2010.

DRUCKER APPS
F or weeks, the publishing industry has been abuzz about a possible deal between News Corp. and Microsoft, which would squeeze out Google and effectively make Microsoft’s Bing the main portal for finding online content from major newspapers. Although the prospects of such a partnership appear to have dimmed in recent days, the talk underscores the vital importance of business alliances in an increasingly complex world.
In this edition of Drucker Apps, you’ll find tools to help you understand why strategic alliances are growing, why some executives nonetheless resist such partnerships, how joint ventures can be the key to corporate agility, and what steps need to be taken to ensure that a successful alliance doesn’t blow up.
These insights—at once timely and timeless—are based on the ideas and ideals of the late Peter F. Drucker, the father of modern management.
