Angel B. Perez (Ph.D. Student)

Angel B. Perez currently serves as the Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Pitzer College- a member of the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, CA. A native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City, Angel has worked in admission at Skidmore College (NY) and Claremont McKenna College (CA). He spent several years in New York City as Director of College Counseling at a small Public School. He holds a BS from Skidmore College, and an MA from Columbia University. His current research interests as a Ph.D. student correlate to his work: College Admission, Financial Aid, and Enrollment Management.
Throughout his career he has been active in state and national counseling association boards and committees. He is the outgoing Chair of the Current Trends and Future Issues Committee of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and currently sits on the Guidance and Admissions Council of The College Board. He writes often about issues of college admission and has been published in periodicals including: The Journal of College Admission, The Washington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Los Angeles Times. He also serves as an instructor for the UCLA's College Counseling Certification Program where he teaches courses like Counseling the College Bound Student, The College Admissions Process, and Higher Education in the Public Interest.
