The installation will open with a procession of trustees, faculty, and education delegates, followed by remarks from dignitaries, representatives of the Claremont Colleges, and President Freund. CGU music Professor Peter Boyer, one of the most frequently performed American orchestral composers of his generation, will then lead members of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra in the debut performance of a piece he composed especially for the occasion. Donald Baker, chair of the university's Board of Trustees, will preside over the ceremonies, which will include a panel discussion on the university's commitment to transdisciplinary research and teaching. Additional activities across the CGU campus, including an art exhibit and open houses, are planned throughout the afternoon. Attendance of the installation ceremony and panel discussion is by invitation only. The afternoon open houses and art exhibition are open to all.
