“I truly loved being a doctoral student in the School of Educational Studies. Working with the Education faculty and with my CGU classmates broadened my perspective considerably. The CGU degree has opened doors to many new opportunities and positions, including my current position.”

As an administrative director, Executive Assistant to the Interim Chancellor and, most recently, Academic Affairs Program Officer for the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Myrtle Yamada (SES Ph.D. ’90) has gained broad experience in higher education leadership. From organizing new academic and research units and directing academic affairs to reviewing personnel matters and helping to establish the Hawaiinuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge, her career has been enriched by the many professional roles she has been called upon to play.
Dr. Yamada credits much of her success to the doctoral training she received at CGU. “I truly loved being a CGU doctoral student. My experience prior to CGU was limited to one unit within a larger college. Working with the Education faculty and with my CGU classmates broadened my perspective considerably. The CGU degree has opened doors to many new opportunities and positions, including my current position.”
