  • How big is my email box?
    Faculty and Students are given 2gb of storage space for their email while Staff are given 500mb. As your email box nears capacity, you will:
    • receive a warning message that your email box is almost full when you have used 1.6gb of storage space if you are Faculty and Students, 400mb if you are Staff
    • be restricted from sending emails when you have used 1.8gb of storage space if you are Faculty and Students, 450mb if you are Staff
    • be restricted from sending and receiving emails when you used 2.0gb of storage space if you are Faculty and Students, 500mb if you are Staff
  • Generic Email Reader Settings
    • IMAP Protocol
      • Incoming Email Server settings
        • Protocol: IMAP
        • Server: imap.cgu.edu (faculty/staff) or imap.student.cgu.edu (students)
        • Port: 993
        • Encryption: SSL
        • Authentication method: password
      •  Outgoing Email Server settings
        • Protocol: SMTP
        • Server: smtp.cgu.edu (faculty/staff) or smtp.student.cgu.edu (students)
        • Port: 587
        • Encryption: TLS (or SSL on some older clients)
        • Authentication method: password
    • POP3 Protocol - we do not recommend using a POP3 set up unless it is absolutely necessary
      • Incoming Email Server settings
        • Protocol: POP3
        • Server: pop.cgu.edu (faculty/staff) or pop.student.cgu.edu (students)
        • Port: 995
        • Encryption: SSL
        • Authentication method: do NOT select secure password or encrypted password; if you must choose an option, please select normal password or unencrypted password
        • Make sure you choose the option that is labeled similar to: Leave messages on the server until you delete them
      •  Outgoing Email Server settings
        • Protocol: SMTP
        • Server: smtp.cgu.edu (faculty/staff) or smtp.student.cgu.edu (students)
        • Port: 587
        • Encryption: TLS (or SSL on some older clients or START)
