Translation and Interpretation in the Greek Esdras Tradition Project

Translation and Interpretation in the Greek Esdras Tradition ProjectThe Greek book 1 Esdras is very different from the Greek translation of the Books of Ezra. The question arises as to where the text of 1 Esdras comes from. Is it a Greek translation from a Hebrew text that is independent of the current Hebrew (and Aramaic) book of Ezra? Or is it a translation of an alternative and/or revised edition of the Hebrew Ezra? Or is it a Greek witness to a different Esdras tradition? Or is it a revised edition of the Greek translation of the Book of Ezra? The project seeks to engage scholars representing the different opinions and stimulate anew the debate concerning "Vorlage" or "Translation and interpretation" within Biblical research.
