• used as a document repository for readings, syllabi, handouts, PowerPoints, assignments, links to articles, and other documents; also contains group specific folders, allowing each group to share and collaborate on files
• used as a communications mechanism for the class as a whole

• used as a communications mechanism for the class as a whole, very similar to a listserv

• used as a communications mechanism for groups of students working in teams

• used as an online self-assessment for students to apply course concepts to their own lives

• create groups in Sakai to allow group oriented items to be created in other Sakai tools
