Impact of Globalization
I am interested in global health and the impact of globalization. Currently I am researching and developing a chronology of the Pacific Rim Transdisciplinary Tobacco and Alcohol Use Research Center (PR-TTAURC), in particular the China Seven Cities Study (CSCS), through a review of the literature, interviews, and examination of relevant reports. The information garnered will contribute to a description of how a collaborative network linking Chinese public health institutions and behavioral scientists from the U.S. was created to address the epidemic of chronic disease in China within the context of globalization. The PR-TTAURC model is instructive as to how the transfer of evidence-based science can be effectively adapted to cultures and circumstances in the developing world.
