Torie Weiston (Ph.D. Candidate)
Torie's research interests include; mentoring, closing the achievement gap, the school to prison pipeline, children with incarcerated parents, narrative and action research and social justice education.

Torie Weiston is in the dissertation stage of the doctoral program. She has been teaching high school english for eight years and during that time has run various programs on her campus. She has a passion for high school students and her research reflects that. Her current work includes an action research project titled "The African American Mentoring Program". Torie is hoping to build a model program that can be used as a strategy to help close the achievement gap on high school campuses.
In addition to teaching, Torie has also founded a non-profit organization, called the Youth Mentoring Action Network, centered on mentoring youth of color within high schools.
Her research interests include; mentoring, closing the achievement gap, the school to prison pipeline, children with incarcerated parents, narrative and action research and social justice education.
