  Drew Potts, Alumna, has been awarded a fellowship from the U.S. Department of State to participate in the Educational Seminar: 2013 India Summer Teacher Exchange Program. Mr. Potts is one of 10 educators who have been selected from across the U.S. to participate. From July 2 to August 2, he is being hosted by a school in Kolkata, India. The Educational Seminar: 2013 India Summer Teacher Exchange Program is a short-term, mutual exchange opportunity for U.S. high school teachers of English, Mathematics and Science to collaborate and teach with a counterpart from India.Grantees are assigned to schools in India, where the medium of instruction is English, and team-teach with a counterpart from India in their subject area.  (Pres release by the American Councils for International Education, 2013)
  • Franque Bains, Alumna, is having an amazing experience teaching Math at Village School in Guatemala. This K-12 school is a private bilingual institution in the capital city. She recently participated in a church conference that 500 people attended. Please see pictures from the conference.

  • Sara Hills, 2006 Alumna, has embarked on a new career passion of filmmaking. She is currently the screenwriter and producer of You Got This!, a coming of age story about two seemingly different young women. The only thing they have in coming is running.   • Julija Zubac, a current student in the Internship program was recently featured among 30 noteworthy Educators on the Social Media site Splashlife.   Julija is praised on May 31, 2011 for stressing with her students the importance of personal responsibility and participation in current events of the day.   • Ethan Dotson recently voted outstanding teacher by his colleagues at Foothill Middle School in Azusa CA.
  • Alumni Tom James and his academic decathlon team just earned a place the state finals Tom is a math and science teacher at Chaffey High School in Ontario.
  • Kern Oduro (‘00) is now the principal of Rancho Cucamonga High School, Chaffey Joint Unified School District.
  • CGU takes 12 Teacher Education Candidates to Vietnam for a month-long sojourn funded by Fulbright-Hays Group Travel Programs.
  • Alumni Amber Carrow (‘04) named California Teacher of the Year (2010).
  • Alumni Andrew King (‘08) named LA County Teacher of the Year (2010). Having only been in the field for 3 years, he’s the “youngest” teacher of this prestigious bunch.

  • Michelle Dymerski (‘03) directing C.I.S.E.P. -- The Claremont International Studies Education Project at Pitzer College
  • Kristen Effinger (‘06) is now teaching in Cairo, Egypt. Previously she was teaching in Stavanger, Norway.
  • Becki LaMascus (‘03) has been promoted to be a Teacher on Special Assignment (Intervention Specialist) at Barfield Elementary, Pomona Unified School District.
  • Jason Carreras (‘07) named Program Specialist at Compton Unified School District.
