Doing Business in a Culture of Sustainability combines classroom and field study to explore the unique business culture of Costa Rica.
Initial classroom study utilizes case studies and class discussion that investigate Corporate Social Responsibility commitments in sectors such as high tech, retail, and tourism, the impact of government regulation, incentives and free trade agreements, and the commercialization and financing of sustainable businesses and products.
The second leg of the class takes place in Costa Rica where lecture and corporate, non-profit, and agency visits are integrated with classroom learning, melding theory with experience.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to sample the country’s rich biodiversity through visits to hot springs, the beach, a volcano and an adventure park.
Upon return to Claremont, final lectures and team projects connect class learnings with experience and the potential for future application.
