Kozmetsky Transdisciplinary Scholars Award AnnouncementTransdisciplinary Studies Program Dear Colleagues, As many of you know, in addition to the Transdisciplinary Studies Dissertation Awards, the Transdisciplinary Studies Reading/Working Group Awards and the Hillcrest Transdiscipliary Studies Awards have been extremely helpful in building a culture of transdisciplinarity for CGU students. The T- Program has been making these awards on a regular basis for many years now; 9- 10 Transdisciplinary Studies Dissertation Awards are made annually and more than 35 Transdisciplinary Studies Reading Working Group Awards as well as 6-10 Hillcrest Awards are given each year. Now that these three student Transdisciplinary Studies Award programs are solidly in place and have produced substantial results in regard to building a transdisciplinary culture at CGU, I am pleased to announce a new award: the Kozmetsky Transdisciplinary Scholar Awards to facilitate faculty work in Transdisciplinary Studies that parallels the Reading/Working Groups and Hillcrest Transdisciplinary Studies Awards for students. These will be modest grants ranging from $500 to $3000 that can be used to fund transdisciplinary collaborative research proposals, faculty (or faculty and student) reading groups across the disciplines, T-course design, transdisciplinary conferences, speakers, and other collaborative transdisciplinary projects. Approximately 8-10 of these awards will be made for 2011-2012 with the intention of increasing this number in subsequent years. Preference will be given to collaborative projects that involve faculty in from a range of disciplines (at least three disciplines preferably across two or three Schools at CGU). Proposals should include (1) a description of the project to be supported (e.g. research paper or article, electronic database or website development, survey, exhibit, colloquium, conference, etc); (2) the plan of activities and goals for the academic year as well as a schedule of meeting dates/event dates; (3) a list of committed participants with a description of their own research agendas as well as convenor/convenors who will be responsible for submitting receipts for reimbursement for expenses; (4) a summary of anticipated expenses; (5) an explanation of the transdisciplinary nature and contribution of the project.
