The time has come for you to inform us of your housing plans once the 2012 Spring semester ends. You have three options to choose from so please select the one that most applies to your future plans.
Option 1
If you plan to continue living in the CGU Aparrtments for either the summer semester only, or for the summer semester and the 2012-2013 academic year (fall and spring semester) then you are considered to be a CONTINUING student. As a CONTINUING student you will need to complete and submit the following documents to the Housing Services office no later than April 23, 2012.
1. Intent Form
2. Request for Exception (If Summer Only)
3. Continuing Annual Application
4. Housing Services Annual License Agreement
If you want to stay in your current apartment for the summer and the academic year then list your current apartment as your 1st choice in the "preferences" section of the application. If you want to transfer to a different floor plan then complete the Transfer Request form.
If you lived on campus in the 2011 Fall semester, and DID NOT move out over the holiday break and return to the CGU Apartments for the 2012 Spring semester, then the treatment of your Security Deposit will be changed. Your new License Agreement details an Initial Fee (Section II, Paragraph C, line 2) which is composed of a three-hudred dollar ($300.00) Security Deposit and a two-hundred dollar ($200.00) Rent Credit. You currently have a five-hundred dollar ($500.00) Security Depositon file. In order to be aligned with the new License Agreement, Housing Services will adjust your current security deposit as prevously described. So, of the five-hundred dollars($500.00), three-hundred ($300.00) will remain on file as a security deposit and can be refunded to you at the time that you move out; and two-hundred dollars ($200.00) will be applied to your rent for the month following receipt of your License Agreement in the Housing Services office. For example, if we receive your renewal paperwork in April, then your rent credit will be applied for the month of May.
If you lived in the CGU Apartments during the 2011 Fall semester but moved out over the holiday break and returned for the 2012 Spring semester; or you first moved into the CGU Apartments fo the 2012 Spring semester: this change does not affect you because you already have a three-hundred ($300.00) security deposit on file and have received your two-hundred dollar ($200.00) rent credit.
Option 2
If you plan to move-out of the CGU Apartments at the end of the semester and will return to live in the apartments for the 2012-2013 academic year (fall and spring semester) then you are considered to be a RETURNING student. As a RETURNING student you will need to complete and submit the following documents to the Housing Services office no later than April 23, 2012.
1. Intent Form
2. Academic Year Application
3. Housing Services Academic License Agreement
4. Refund Request Form (only complete if you are requesting your security deposit after moving out)
Because the assigning of space in the CGU Apartments works on a first come first serve basis, the possibility exists that you, as a Returning student, may not receive a unit in the complex for the upcoming academic year because "New" students, or other Returning students, submitted their application materials to our office before you. In order to prevent that from happening, you can guarantee yourself a space in the complex by keeping your current security deposit on file rather than having it refunded to you upon moving out. On the Intent Form, check the appropriate section to indicate whether or not you plan to guarantee yourself a space in the complex for the 2012 -2013 academic year. If any damage or cleaning charges are warranted, then they will be applied against your security deposit and you will also be required to bring your security deposit up to the required level prior to moving back into the complex for the upcoming academic year.
If you lived on campus in the 2011 Fall semester and DID NOT move out over the holiday break and return to the CGU Apartments for the 2012 Spring semester, then the treatment of your Security Deposit will be changed. Your new License Agreement details an Initial Fee (Section II, Paragraph C, line 2) which is composed of a three-hundred dollar ($300.00) Security Deposit and a two-hundred dollar ($200.00) Rent Credit. You currently have a five-hundred dollar ($500.00) Security Deposit on file. In order to be aligned with the new License Agreement, Housing Services will adjust your current security deposit as previously described. So, of the five-hundred dollars ($500.00), three hundred dollars ($300.00) will remain on file as a security deposit and can be refunded to you at the time that you permanently move out of the complex for the upcoming academic year.
If you lived in the CGU Apartments during the 2011 Fall semester but moved out over the holiday break and returned for the 2012 Spring semester; or you first moved into the CGU Apartments for the 2012 Spring semester; this change will not affect you because you already have a three-hundred dollar ($300.00) security deposit on file and have received your two hundred dollar ($200.00) rent credit.
Option 3
If you plan to move-out of the CGU Apartments at the end of the semester and will not be returning then you are considered to be a MOVE-OUT student. As a MOVE-OUT student you will need to complete and submit the following documents to the Housing Services office no later than April 23, 2012.
1. Intent Form
2. Refund Request Form
3. Request to Vacate Form ( only complete if vacating 30 or more days before the termination date indicated in the License Agreement)
You will be expected to remove all of your belongings from the unit and return your keys (apartment, bedroom, and mailbox) to the Housing Services office no later than 5:00 p.m on Monday , May 14, 2012. If you need to stay in your apartment beyond May 14th then please make that request via the "Request for Exception" form and submit it along with your appropriate paperwork no later than the date indicated above. If approved to extend your stay, additional charges may apply. If you fail to remove all of your belongings and/or submit your keys by this day and time and without being approved for an extension you will have had an improper Checkout and one-hundred dollar ($100.00) fee will be charged against your security deposit.
