Newly Admitted Students FAQs

When is payment due?
The payment deadline is the first day of classes, September 3. Please view the Student Accounts web page, FAQs.  Feel free to contact  our  student accounts staff additional questions.

Can I still apply for financial aid? Can I get help with my student loans?
Yes,  please review the FAQs. Then follow up with staff listed on that page as needed.

When and how do I register for classes?
New incoming students will select the appropriate classes with their faculty advisor, either by email, phone or in person and submit a paper registrtion form to the Admissions Manager.  There is an opportuntinity also to meet during New Student Orientation.The Admission manager input the registration into the system this first semester only.  After this first semester's registration, returning students will register via their student portal.

Please follow these steps for advising and registration:

  1. Review the course schedules here. (Please note that the CGU course schedule can be a little tricky. FIRST click on the specific semester that you are looking for, such as 2013 Fall, and click Choose Term. THEN select the field (Politics and Policy for the PP courses, and Psychology for the Psych courses. ) and click on Search. (If you don't follow this order, you may end up with the wrong classes).  In many cases, there are both course-description and also textbook links.

  2. Here is the link to the Registration Form. Staff will insert your student ID # on the form.

  3. Email the faculty member on this list; you will select by your field of interest.   Please allow time for them to respond as they travel and work on summer research.

    a.    Type : Advising and Registration in the subject line

    4.    Send to me your completed and signed form:

    a.   Either by email to  the admission counselor.
    Scan the form with a copy of the email from the faculty with whom you discuss your registration. 

    b.   Or by U.S. mail to:

Who is my faculty advisor?
Faculty advisors are assigned during New Student Orientation, which normally takes place a week or two before the start of the semester. Your faculty advisor will be a professor that oversees the major field you are interested in pursuing. 

When will I receive my Student ID?
You will receive your Student ID after New Student Orientation.

When will I get access to my e-mail and student portal?
You will receive access to your OIT email and student portalaccess information at New Student Orientation.

How can I obtain on-campus housing?
Please refer to our  student housing web page.
